Hey Tumbrer! How are you guys doing today!
Today is one of the many days that I decided to write an entry on something that recently happened. Friday the 24th of May was my movie night with my boyfriend, and we watched Iron Man 3. We’ve been wanting to watch it since it’s released (the beginning of May), but we never really had the time to due to our busy schedule. But then that Friday after studying we decided to be spontaneous and go watch it. Actually, we wanted to see Epic, the movie at first, but we were late for the showing; therefore, we went for Iron Man 3.
The line for the movie was super long. It’s a Friday night, so it is expected. And there were other movies that were premiered that night also, so people must have been super pumped to watch them. Instead of waiting in line, we used the ticket dispenser machine to get our tickets faster. Might be a little bit pricier without student discount, but at least we get in the movie on time 😃. Without much time to waste, we hurried through the entrance and to the theater. It was theater 13 when we entered, and every seat was basically filled up except the last two seats on the upper left corner. We could tell why people didn’t take these seats; there were boxes of popcorns and empty drinks on top of them. Without any other choices, we cleaned up the two seats, lift the arm in between the seats and made it a “double bench” that was comfortable enough for us to enjoy. And the movie started…
The movie was about 2.5 hours long filled with action, fire, explosions, alternating with jokes and humors that make it both exhilarating, and fun. We really enjoyed the movie, and we talked about how the movie was and had some critique toward it. Iron Man 3 was released at the beginning of May, but seeing a filled theater after 3 weeks that the movie was out. This shows that Iron Man 3, and Iron Man the series itself, has attracted and is able to retain many fans. According to IMDB – Internet Movie DataBase, Iron Man 3 received a 7.7 rating out of 10. I have to say that this is very good. Not many movie series are able to not only maintain followers but also receive high rating. Even though Iron Man 3 was directed by a different director, it was able to successfully deliver the excitement from the action, the surprise from plot twists, and the humor from the characters. I believe that if I tell this to everyone else who watched the movie, most of them would agree with me on how great the movie was. Good movie! If you haven’t watched it yet, definitely save out time and enjoy the movie with your love ones. Especially if you’re a Marvell comic addict, a superhero fan, or an action movie person, Iron Man 3 will surely satisfy your expectations.
*SPOILER ALERT* - I’m sorry my Tumblr Followers[l1] ! But from this point on, I will be discussing certain parts of the movie. Your Discretion is Advised :D
So after discussing the movie around with, there are two main points that we think maybe plot holes. One is that we know that “The Mandarin” as an act to cover up the evil plan of Killian, the antagonist. Killian produced “The Mandarin” by having an actor called Trevor to play him. Around the middle of the movie, it revealed that Trevor is a coward that has high interests in women and would do anything for money; however, there is a little plot hole that can be overseen. One of the produced video released to frighten the American executive administration along with its citizen was that The Mandarin killed one of the member of the administration. My question here is, was that member really a look-a-like actor that was pretending to be killed? Did Trevor really killed the guy or was it just an act? We don’t know, but it should have cleared up a little whether that officer was really dead or not as part of the “behind-the-scene” part of the production. Anyway, I know it seems a little bit picky to pick out this, but it was something I picked up while watching the movie. It bothers me still haha, but hey this means I was paying attention!! 😊.
Another point I would like to mention is the similarity between Iron Man 3 and the Incredibles. If you remember, the Incredibles is a Disney/Pixar movie released in 2004 and received an 8.0 rating according to IMDB. There is an obvious similarity between the two movies in term of characters. The protagonists are both white male superheroes that have a slight love-hate relationship with their significant others. The antagonists are both once fans of the protagonists and are inspired by the protagonists to create and become something powerful. The antagonists then become the unexpected evil and the protagonists have to destroy them. Meanwhile, there are side characters that are both African American male superheroes. There goes the obvious similarity, with just little changes here and there. Not many are able to make this comparison if they’re not huge addicts of both Marvel novels and Disney movies. This then makes the core plot of the two movies the same. Then the question is were the writers of Iron Man 3 “borrowed” the storyline of The Incredibles? If the writers said it was based on the Marvel novels, then was Disney using the core storyline of Iron Man to create a different movie that obviously received higher rating and profit than the original? Or is it that the producers ran out of ideas, covered up the storyline by making the action and the humors better than the other? Who knows?
Speaking of Superheroes movies, Man of Steel, X-Men Wolverine, and Thor 2 are coming out this SUMMER!! Catch these movies guys!! :)
